Eventful ride, met two cyclists I've admired from afar on their tandem recumbent, Melissa and Greg (I hope my memory is correct on their names, but I can be forgiven, after all my alter ego is trying to promote dementia care, cure and acceptance). This couple rules the roads around here, resilient and strong they are.
On the way back at mile 32, the quiet enjoyment of my ride was loudly interrupted — the sound of gunfire, no, just the explosion of my chinese inner-tube. I have to say that it has been 50 plus years since I had a tube burst so completely open. Now I was confronted with the drama of vintage cycling, no longer could I just flip the bike over, unscrew the axle, pull the derailleur back and pop out the wheel — this was old school and in attempt to keep my vintage theme, I had only old school tools, save the CO2 inflator. After an hour I was riding home, longest roadside tube change ever.
