Rolling out from Sandy Hook, I started my century ride with the lighthouse and old Fort Hancock on one side and the Atlantic stretching wide on the other. Hugging Ocean Avenue, the miles slipped by with the river on my left and surf on my right through Sea Bright. Long Branch greeted me with its boardwalk and old Victorian homes before I pushed on past the music halls and murals of Asbury Park. Ocean Grove, Bradley Beach, Belmar, and Spring Lake each added their own charm—quiet streets, tree-lined avenues, and endless ocean views. Further south, Point Pleasant and Seaside Heights buzzed with boardwalk energy, rides, and salt air. Reaching Island Beach State Park felt like stepping back into a wilder Jersey—rolling dunes, seabirds, and untouched shoreline. I was forced to climb the dunes in order to catch a view of Barnegat Light across the bay. Legs tired, turning back north, the same sights took on a softer light, each landmark marking progress home, completing a century framed entirely by the sea.
